Knowledge-Action Principles and Threshold-Impurism

چکیده
Impurism says that practical factors encroach on knowledge. An important version of impurism is called ‘Threshold-Impurism,’ which the threshold rational credence must pass in order for one to have A prominent kind argument Threshold-Impurism so-called ‘principle-based argument,’ relies a principle fallibilism and knowledge-action principle. This paper offers new challenge against Threshold-Impurism. I attempt show two principles Threshold-Impurists are committed to—KJ Fallibilism—are jointly tension with widely-held that’s ‘Truth-Directedness,’ sense former cannot both apply those who know third. constitutes serious Threshold-Impurists, because it leaves them options, undesirable: denying Truth-Directedness, or accepting Truth-Directedness whether KJ Fallibilism person depends she knows Truth-Directedness.

متن کاملKnowledge Systems: Principles and Practice
We describe what is expected of a knowledgebased expert system, and the components from which such a system is constructed. We give a view of how an interplay between principles and practice has helped the knowledge system field to develop, and we give simple examples to show that reasoning techniques based on formal logic are now starting to provide a useful coupling between scientific and eng...
متن کاملKnowledge Engineering: Principles and Methods
This paper gives an overview of the development of the field of Knowledge Engineering over the last 15 years. We discuss the paradigm shift from a transfer view to a modeling view and describe two approaches which considerably shaped research in Knowledge Engineering: Role-limiting Methods and Generic Tasks. To illustrate various concepts and methods which evolved in recent years we describe th...
متن کاملKnowledge and Action
Those who have thought and written about management often refer to management "know-how." By this they apparently mean the ability of the manager to understand what is going on in his environment. It is the chief concern of the management scientist to translate these vague stipulations about management knowledge into precise and verifiable assertions about how decisions are made an~ how decisio...
متن کاملPrinciples of canonical action research
Despite the growing prominence of canonical action research (CAR) in the information systems discipline, a paucity of methodological guidance continues to hamper those conducting and evaluating such studies. This article elicits a set of five principles and associated criteria to help assure both the rigor and the relevance of CAR in information systems. The first principle relates to the devel...
